DDC ^® provides seismic safety for Academy Awards ^® Ceremonies

The future home of the Academy Awards ^® Ceremonies is being built next to the world famous Mann’s Chinese Theater and Walk of Fame. A new 57,600 m² (640,000 square feet) entertainment and retail complex is being built to exceed the expectations of millions of visitors from around the world that come to Hollywood. The complex features six screens with 1,500 seat multiplex cinemas and a 3,000 seat premier theatre.Parking is available in a subterranean six-level garage for 3,000 cars.
A 640-room hotel with a luxurious pool area is directly attached to the development.

Underground shoring was done with DYWIDAG temporary strand anchorages. Most of the structural elements are made from precast concrete and connection between columns and beams was done with multiple sets of DDC ^®.Heavy vertical loads were applied to the precast transfer girders, which were post-tensioned with up to 5 tendons having 19-0.6" strands. The DDC ^® system with its superior ductility properties also significantly reduced erection costs due to the ease and speed of assembly.
